Cannes film festival
The International Cannes film festival takes place every year in May, and lasts for ten days. Numerous international film stars hang around on the occasion of the festival, to make an appearance on the most famous European red carpet.
The most prestigious award which is delivered during the festival is the Golden Palm.
During the festival there are sumptuous parties and events taking place in town, involving film producers in search for notoriety and famous stylists willing to present their collections.

Montecarlo Grand Prix
The historic Grand Prix of Montecarlo, which first edition dates back to 1929, is held every year in May, drawing thousands of visitors.
The event represents a unique chance to enjoy a breathtaking car race in the elegant and romantic background of the Principality. The Race takes place, not without polemics, through the narrow roads and bends of the city, transformed for the occasion into a city circuit.
Cars speed past for 78 times on the 3 km circuit, just a few meters from the audience. The circuit is the shortest but most tortuous of the world, and this is what makes the race the most spectacular of the entire championship. Particularly thrilling are the “chicane bend” and the big bend just before the tunnel.

Nice Carnival
The Nice Carnival has very old roots. The celebration is mentioned for the first time in 1294, and still today it represents the greatest Carnival celebration in France, with over a million visitors.
Sumptuous parades, masquerades or the traditional “flowers battles" can be admired during the event. Flowers are actually the core of celebrations, with a great variety of colours, flavours and shapes.
In addition to parades, numerous music performances and suggestive fireworks can be admired.
On the last day of the Carnival a big fire is lighted up near the Hotel Plaza, with fireworks and a fancy-dress party.
The Feast of Lemons in Mentone
The so called “Fete du Citron” of Mentone is one of the French Riviera’s most famous events, taking place every year in coincidence with the Carniva.
During the two weeks’ celebration, a thematic park is staged inside the "Biovès Gardens", with wonderful orange sculptures and original flower compositions. Colourful parades take place throughout the town, where carriages are entirely decorated with lemons and oranges.
The event terminates with huge fireworks over the sea. Admission to the gardens and parades is on payment. More info can be obtained through the official website of the event: www.feteducitron.com
